Beat The Parents Board Game
()Let me start off by saying that I am 17 years old.My parents are in their 40s.My brother(20 years old) and I played this game with our parents for some "quality time," and it was actually kind of fun!The game is pretty simple and the rules on the box explain them perfectly!The questions are pretty good.Sometimes I couldn't answer the kid questions and my parent couldn't answer the adult ones, but that is to be expected.We had hours of fun playing this game though.
If you like trivia and being asked questions, then this is the game for you!The game is a mix of checkers and trivia.Once you answer a question correctly, you move your game piece forward on the board.When you have all your pieces on the other side of the board, you win! There are tons of cards so there are always new questions to answer.
Overall, I think the game is pretty good.It's not my favorite board game ever but it definitely passes the time and helps you learn some pretty cool facts!
()First off, this is a fun game. The parents ask kids questions that would be hard for them, like history and other common trivia. The kids in turn ask parents questions about current cartoons and other things kids would be likely to know, but parents would most likely struggle with. Here is the thing, though. Some kids are smart, and know tons of trivia and history. And some parents are "hip" and know about things like SpongeBob Squarepants and Disney Princesses. So the game could be easy or hard depending on the family.
Also, the game is supposed to be relatively challenging. If everyone knows every question, it isn't much fun. On the other hand, if no one can answer any question, it's also no fun. However, you can modify the game by providing hints to make questions easier or leaving out details to make them harder to answer.
Overall, this is a good game and it is fun now but my biggest problem with it is what is going to happen to this game in 20 years. None of the kids questions will be relevant anymore. This is a very "pop culture" oriented game and is not going to withstand the test of time. I can't give it a low rating because of that, however, because as of today, right now, my family and I (wife and 2 pre teens) enjoy the game and have played it about 10 times and we all enjoy it.

()Not much to say, the cards were either incredibly hard or incredibly easy, and there aren't enough questions in the game itself for it to even have much of a replay value with the same people again.If they released extra and better cards for it, or a newer better edition, I might consider buying it, but only after reading a lot of reviews for it.
I like the concept of the game, its a great idea, but for it really work as a trivia game, it needs to have more cards (and not have the answers to questions on the cards so easily read), closer to the amount you'de get with a game like Apples to Apples or Trivial Pursuit, and have questions that aren't extremely easy for one age group and not the other, it is too easy for the children to win, and too hard for the adults, maybe that's the real reason its called "Beat the Parents"?;P
I'd pass on this one until a newer and better one comes out, or another game company improves upon it because this one just doesn't cut it as being fun or replayable.

Our family enjoyed playing this on vacation, but after playing it around 4 times, we were all the way through the cards, and they do not sell refill packs with new questions (at least at the time of this review).The nature of the game renders the card useless once you have used it once.

()I thought this would have been just another average game that I would play with the kids and that they would have been bored of after about 10 minutes. Was I in for a surprise. The game turned out to be much more fun than we thought possible. Even my 6 year old got in on the action by answering the questions that he knew the answers for. It turned out that quite a few questions that we thought we knew the answers for we actually had no clue. It was really funny also hearing my kids answer questions that the parents knew. The guesses were totally hilarious. My 15 year old actually thought that pineapples grew on trees. :) It's a very educational game and lots of fun for the entire family. I only wished that it was expandable because after playing for a while the kids started memorizing the answers. I would definitely recommend this game for anyone with kids and grandkids. They would totally enjoy it. I know our family did.

100 Black Dice - 16mm
I bought Qwirkle (don't worry, this fits into my review of these dice) and I like the game.But, the decals on the cubes in Qwirkle started peeling off after the first game.I thought that I could make my own version of the game that would be more durable if I had enough dice and then colored the pips with some colored permanent markers.So, that's what I used these for.The pips are recessed (which makes them easier to color, which is what I wanted).I had enough left over to use as Farkle dice (another fun game).The dice themselves are uniform and look nice (I don't collect dice, so I'm not that picky though).They suit their purpose perfectly.I think these would be great with any game that uses six sided dice.
Picked up this pack of 100 black dice for Shadowrun with the boys. Standard dice, no flaws. Did have to clean some adhevise off a few of the dice because the packaging they come in has a sticky side. Other than that no issues.The dice are just as pictured.The accurate description and photos were helpful in letting me know what to expect.

Beck Children's Wooden Pencil Desk and Chair
This isn't necessarily a bad value at $35; it's cute but the craftsmanship is poor and the age description is misleading.The "desk," which is really a table with a drawer, wobbles. One of the screws that came with it (not one related to the wobbly leg issue) had a stripped head so I had to use my own. On the plus side, the pre-drilled holes all lined up.
My biggest gripe is that the manufacturer describes this desk as suitable for ages 36 months to 10 years. We'll be lucky if my average-sized five-year-old can use it for a year before either growing out of it or breaking it through normal use.I'd say it's sized for twoand three-year-olds.
I'd return it if it weren't a hassle to take it apart again and repack and ship it.
My toddler daughter likes it and the height of this table is just right for her.
I would recommend this product for anyone who is looking around for a cute and stylish wooden table for their young toddlers.

At first, I was a little bit skeptical about this product due to the one negative feedback about this product. But I decided to go with my instincts that it can't be this bad and decided to buy it anyway. To my surprise, I am very happy with this product. My daughter is almost 2 years of age and she seems to like this new desk and chair. It was also very easy to install from the packaging. The screws and pre-drilled holes all aligned properly and the fit for each piece of the furniture fitted together nicely. I also used a bit of carpenter's glue to glue the pieces together before screwing them onto each other. This way the table would be a bit more sturdier. This wasn't recommended by the instruction manual, just something I thought of.
Overall, this is a well made product for the price it's offered here.

The desks are well constructed and very well designed.Our kids love the indentation along the outside of the desk that keep their pencils from rolling onto the floor.The adjustable stool is quite heavy which helps it remain firmly situated and not tip over.It is easy to see that this investment will last the life time of our home school teaching career.The height on the table can be adjusted to an average adult standing height.I fully intend to use this desk (for my craft and hobbies) once my home school teaching is completed!
There is a fair amount of assembly required but just sit down and study the instructions previous to diving in.Know that there is a difference between the left and right legs of the desk.Once assembled, you will need to adjust the height to the correct height for your child.I used a tape measure to measure the distance from my daughters elbow and then subtracted an inch for clearance.While the table was on its side on the floor, we adjusted the height to correspond.She seems extremely comfortable with the table at that height.
This desk has made my life as a home school mom SO much easier.Even my daughter has noticed a change. She couldn't be happier with this desk. It is great that she has a desk that is just hers, but also that she is completely comfortable and ABLE to concentrate when she does her work!!!She actually looks forward to doing her home school work now!

Barely fits the table.This is not truly for an 8' table as the product barely fits when two of us are stretching it over, but it works enough to do its job, just doesn't look as nice.I was just looking for an inexpensive cover to keep the cat off the table and this did the trick.It is fitted well and, once it has been on there awhile the creases disappear (with the help of the cat, i'm sure.)

I bought 2 of these desks for my 5 year old and 6 year old.They had outgrown the p'kolino toddler desks and needed a new place to write and draw.I was very pleased that with Amazon I could get the desks shipped to my home without paying extra for shipping.I first found these desks on Walmart.com but to order from them would have cost me extra in shipping.The boxes came to my home and I thought they did a clever job in packaging the items.They used just the right amount of cushioning to prevent the table top from being scratched.The desks were heavy, sturdy and easy to put together.The little shelf that comes with the desk fits loosely and wobbles about a bit when assembled but I easily solved the problem but cutting a piece of sticky felt and wedging the gap that made she shelf wiggle and now it is perfect!We love them.
Note:We have owned the desks for about 2 months now.They are still great but a word of caution about the detergents you use to clean the desk surfaces, stay away from harsh detergents, they might ruin the paint.I accidentally dropped a drop of Goof-Off on the desk and it bleached it white.I had to turn the desk top over to hide the spot.

I had doubts when I read the description of the assembly, that no screws or screwdriver is required! I was wrong! It is amazing! The design is so unique, the pieces just " fit into " each other like Lego pieces! There is no wobbling at all and it is sturdy, we have lots of books on it! It is roomy also, you can fit a big notebook and still have both elbows on the table too for proper writing position.It is composite wood, but it has a very " clean" , modern look!
If you pay full price it is pricey but the design is worth every penny!
I am not sure what stores sell this line, but buying it from Amazon can't be beat, delivered fast at your door with no shipping cost!

One of the pieces of chalk doesn't have the preprinted circle in it where you'd twist your cue. I'm giving this as a gift so it stinks that they aren't all alike.
Harry Potter Quidditch The Game
My idea of hell is a little girl (8 years old) disappointed on her birthday. This game creates a good first impression. The box is nice looking and the playing pieces are well printed.
The first problem starts to arise when one finishes punching out the one hundred fiddly little game pieces and starts to read the rules, which, although quite well written, are still very confusing.
One begins to play the game, hoping that the rules will become clearer. Unfortunately they do. As the confusion clears, the boredom sets in.
The board is far too small, and initially covered in the aforementioned one hundred fiddly little game pieces. This makes maneuvering the player pieces awkward for a grown up and frustrating and difficult for a child. There is no clear objective to the game other than to move the players aimlessly around the board, waiting either for a catcher to pick up a quaffle or a searcher picks up the snitch. When a catcher lands on a quaffle piece, the player gets to attempt to fire a plastic ball with a catapult through a plastic "goal" at the opponent's end of the board. This is arguably the most fun you're going to have this evening. When a searcher lands on a snitch piece, the game is over. Period.
As my daughter pointed out, attention to the details of Harry Potter's world is also patchy.
(1) As everybody knows, the Gryffindor Quidditch team includes several girls. As far as we could tell, all the players in this game are represented as boys. That is a huge demerit for this father of a daughter.
(2) The Searcher for the Slytherin team is depicted as a dark haired boy. Again, as every one knows, Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin Searcher is blonde.
(3) In Quidditch, a goal counts as ten points, not as one point as stated in the rules of this game.
In conclusion, good production values are let down by poor attention to detail and a confusing and boring game concept. Way over priced. Parents, save your money for the books!
Whoever designed this game obviously did not play it. The concept looks fun real hoops and a catapult to launch the Quaffle through them to score but try spending a couple of hours fruitlessly launching the fingernail-sized ball at a hoop only to miss and watch it disappear under the sofa, under a table, into a dark corner, into dust-dinos, into a child's mouth. Add to this, incomprehensible rules, and 150 (someone was being too cute for words here) tiny, tiny tokens that conceal the Snitch. The game is cumbersome and deadly boring, with none of the grace, finesse, speed and strategy that make Quidditch the best game in the wizarding world. Save your money! The Quidditch card game (...) is much better.

My daughter received this game for her 9 year old birthday.It is probably the most confusing and boring game a kid could get.A zillion pieces and the most confusing rules imaginable.We are both familiar with the Harry Potter books and movies so I was expecting something playable and fun.I guarantee she will never play this game again after setting up for a 1/2 hour and playing for a tedious 20 minutes. With all the excitement about Harry Potter, we anticipated a wonderful Thanksgiving eve with the Quidditch game.NOT!!Directions are very unclear.There are no clear instructions about how moves are to be made.One hundred game pieces are set on the board (we think) but there are no instructions for where they are to be placed.And what is the likelihood of turning up the ONE snitch card among 100 with two teams playing?Although shooting the quaffle is fun, it is practically impossible to go through the hoops, and the little ball usually rolls off the table to who-knows-under-what-piece-of-furniture.Our players were both adults and bright kids, most of whom are intimately familiar with Harry Potter books and movie.None of us could figure this out so we had to put it away.

We got this for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas. My husband picked it up and hasn't put it down.Everyone has a bracelet now.We have had so much fun with this that we purchased them for all of my daughter's friends.
There are larger Alex Friendship Bracelet kits that have more skeins of thread, more looms, and decorative beads, but this small set is enough to be a small gift for a Christmas stocking (or one of the rewards kids can earn for doing chores or whatever).It comes with a threaded foam circle that has "petals" or indentations to hold the thread in various positions around the circle.My daughter started with this around age ten or so and has made many bracelets, for herself and friends.She is now moving up to a larger kit because she wants to try the square loom used to make flat bracelets.Highly recommended!

This is also called Kumihimo, a Japanese weaving art. I love this little wheel, it's easy to use, my kids like it, and you can generate your own patterns online at a personal craft web page here: craftdesignonline dot com/kumihimo/I added beads to the strings and it worked out fine. It's great for experimenting, and somewhat educational because if you change the pattern at all, you can see how your changes affected the bracelet in the end. This is a great thinking exercise. My 10 yo likes it and my 7 yo likes it as well. I love it, because it fits easily in my purse, is very light, and I can whip it out and give it to a kid to work on or work on it myself instead of being bored. Easy to start & stop. Easy to customize. Much, much better than the flat weaving or clipboard type tools.

Alpine Wave Slide - Green
I purchased this as an additional slide to the swingset I purchased at Costco. That set has the perfect location to add the slide with only slight modification. I will say the I didn't purchase the slide at amazon but rather at home depot for 150.00. It's by the same company Swing N Slide but HD carries it as timber built model # TB-1403. Maybe I could have tried price matching with amazon but I wanted it then and there and I had it installed in under 15 min.As far as the other review saying it's flimsy; well it's just a big piece of plastic, but it holds up to 250 pounds and my kids will outgrow it long before they weigh 250 either combined or individually.I have not had any issues with it and used as a slide it is very sturdy after it's installed properly, which by the way only requires four screws and a good platform to attach it to from 54" to 60" (4'6" to 5') in height. Some 2X4 pieces may be needed to attach the slide but it wasn't needed for the Costco set I have.I have added my own photo to the amazon listing so you can see it. Now I only need about a ton of rubber mulch to put down for in all the fall areas for safety.
When well installed the slide is amazing and very sturdy and solid.
I would recomend this slide to everyone.

The slide is very sturdy and it installed easily.It is shorter than the original slide that came with the playset, so it is a little steeper.Be sure to measure to be sure this is long enough for your needs.
BRIO Short Curved Track
These short curves are really a nice addition to your wooden railway system as they make it possible to create small and sharper turns than you can do with the normal curved track (33342). The downside of this track is that it may be a bit difficult for longer engines (like the mighty red battery-powered engine) to drive through the curves. However, if the tracks are laid without too many "bumps" at the connecting points the larger engines will manage to drive through it as well.
BRIO is the most durable and has the best quality wooden train on the market. These are a must have for extending and building. My son loves having these shorter curved pieces. We have 3 sets and are considering buying a fourth set; that's how much he uses them when building. A great piece to have.

These track pieces only add to the fun of the brio train tracks. They allow for you to fill in tight spots, make tighter curves and increase the changes you can make to your train set up.
They are well made and sturdy. They have lived up to the effort of three kids playing, putting them together, stepping on them, and so on.

We had the dog hanging on the crib and our 7 month old daughter would play with it when she woke up in the mornings. Recently, while she was playing with it, the ring that she pulls on to make the music play broke off. The toy is now broken. It is impossible to fix and just dangles limply on the side of the crib. The tag does say to pull gently, but that is hard to control in the hands of an infant. My 18 month old loves this set!He isn't able to use the kazoo or harmonica yet, but he loves play the xylophone and shake the tamborine while I play the harmonica.It's fun for the whole family.When I first opened the package I thought it was a little strange that the xylophone is all wood(I was expecting metal bars.It took a little while to get used to the sound of the wooden bars compared with metal.My only complaint is that some of the paint has chipped off of the green bar after a couple weeks of use.Otherwise a great way to introduce your child to the world of instrumental music!

I wanted to write an opinion of this because several reviewers say items don't work.My father tried the kazoo and could not get it to make any sound.Then two-year-old Liam put it in his mouth and made sound.It's a kazoo, people. You have to vocalize into it to get sound.You can't just blow.The xylophone is wood, not metal.But it makes a beautiful sound and is appreciated by little kids, if not adults that have higher expectations. We haven't had it long enough to comment on the paint chipping.
The castanetes do work you can't hold them in your hand or the sound is muffled.Hold them by the ties and rap them against your other hand.They're great!
Contrary to other reviewers, I found the harmonica worked surprisingly well.Once the kid figures out not to bite it, he'll be fine with it.
I like the "unfinished" feel of the overall product.The toys are simple, with a hand-crafted feel.I much prefer the kids play with these than cheap plastic toys, or toys that make all the noise for you.A child that's used to video games andelectronic gadgets is not going to appreciate this toy.
The bottom line is this is a BEGINNER music set an introduction to musical sounds that the child creates himself!I'm happy to let kids be kids with this simple toy.

This table and chair are durable, classic, sturdy, and "ergonomically correct." Best, there is NO ASSEMBLY required! The chair came as is right out of the box, and the table only required me to screw the legs in by hand. It took two minutes. My daughter loves the "cut out" for her tummy as well as the high back to the chair [plus the easy-to-carry feature]. She enjoys drawing, having tea parties with her dolls, and snacking at this table; and so far it has resisted all her climbing and moving. I heartily recommend this product.
It is nicely made, but I will have to buy another table and chair pretty soon. If it is too short for 1.5 years old, it is definitely too short for the recommended 2-3 year old.Our three year old loves her desk and chair.They are very sturdy and seem well built.They came right out of the box, almost no assembly required.The finish and construction is really nice and she seems very comfortable drawing and playing.Overall very pleased.

I've been looking for a table this size since our son was 9 months old.We finally found this table just after his first birthday.We ordered it for him to eat his meals at instead of strapping him into a high chair.It was very easy to put together, you only have to screw the legs in.But we noticed a significant chip on the top edge of the table and wanted to exchange it for a new one.I've emailed twice with absolutely no response.Kind of disappointing.Beside that we all love it especially our now 14 month old.He loves to sit in the chair and pull the table in for himself.It has helped with his independence and confidence.It's the perfect size (he's 24 lbs.)We hope he will also like to use it some time in the future for coloring or other small art projects.

My daughter was SO excited when we brought out her special table and chair and plays with it daily.It's become the spot for doing puzzles, coloring, feeding her babies and general PLAY.
It's small enough that she can move the chair and table around herself, but sturdy enough that she can't do a lot of damage to it either.
All in all, we are very pleased with this set!
Star Wars X-Wing: TIE Advanced Expansion Pack
This is a very nice addition to a fun game. You can play a few simple and worthwhile games with the core set, but if you want to get the most variety out of the game you'll need at least a few expansions (though many fans of the game like myself actually buy quite multiple copies of the starter set and most expansions). I highly recommend this TIE Advanced X1 expansion for reasons outlined below.The TIE Advanced X1 adds a ship and four pilots that are NOT included in the core set. Pilots include Darth Vader (unique), Maarek Stele (unique), Tempest Squadron Pilot (generic), and Storm Squadron Pilot (generic).
Darth Vader is the highest skill pilot for the Imperials (level 9). His special ability reads, "During your "Perform Action" step, you may perform 2 actions."
Maarek Stele is a level 7 pilot, who also has a special ability that reads, "When your attack deals a face up Damage card to the defender, instead draw 3 Damage cards, choose 1 to deal, and discard the others."
Another nice thing about the TIE Advanced X1 is that it has 2 shields in addition to the typical three hull (making it harder to kill than a TIE Fighter).
It also includes several upgrade cards. Most (but not all) of these upgrade cards are unique to this expansion, but a few of them can be found in the core set or other expansions. Upgrade cards include Expert Handling, Marksmanship, Squad Leader, Swarm Tactic, Cluster Missiles, and Concussion Missiles.
The expansion also includes all tokens, dials, etc. that you need to use this ship in a game.
All the ships look great. Some (like the X-Wing) are more fragile than others. I've played about a dozen games and haven't had any problems with any ship breaking so far. The TIE Advanced X1 seems a bit more durable than the rest given it's design. I am not rough with the ships, but I am not overly careful with them either (except perhaps when storing them).

Having Vader is great in itself. The miniature is beautifully painted and crafted, and there's nothing like flying Vader with his wingmen (Mauler and Backstabber, I believe, though you'll need the TIE Fighter expansion for Backstabber) against a Rebel team, hopefully with Luke on it.
If you bought the X-Wing Core Set, you're going to need more ships to make it feel like you're playing the full game, and Vader is a great place to start.
