Fisher-Price Mickey's Surprise Clubhouse

Fisher-Price Mickey's Surprise ClubhouseI want to review what it doesn't do that it should."Place any of the figures on the Clubhouse pedestals to hear them say Role Call. They also say silly phrases depending on where they are placed."Mickey and Minnie only go on their own specific pedastals.Pluto or any other figures you buy can only go on the third one.I didn't buy any others, but the 3 included never said 'Roll Call.'"Turn the crazy crank on the back to watch them move up and down and sing the Hot Dog song."There is no crank, just a lever on the front. It does play a part of the Hot Dog song, but you have to keep moving the lever back and forth to make them move up and down; it's not automatic."This crank also moves the hot air balloon back and forth."Again, no crank, but the hot air balloon doesn't move anyway. It just attaches and hangs there."Flip open the Clubhouse top to reveal the lookout telescope, or place a character on top of the Clubhouse and pull a lever to eject them down the silly slide. Press the umbrella to launch the red car out of the garage..."None of this is included, though there is a car.

If it actually did what it said, it'd be awesome. It sounds like they just cheaped out on it in the end.Oh, and none of the pieces snap or hook into place either, meaning it separates very easily. The original clubhouse is way better and less expensive. It's not made by the same company either (which is odd, since Fisher-Price made this one).

I researched this clubhouse and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that came before this one.Comparing the two, this one has definitely made some improvements: more durable and comes with three figurines instead of just one, more things to do...the best part however, is the fact that it plays the "Hot Dog Song."That is what my 2 and a half year old loves the most about the toy.

My biggest complaint is that the manufacturer's description from amazon is WRONG!There is not a slide and the mousekadoer does not light up and flash. You do not press an umbrella for a car to shoot out.The manufacturer's description on the box does not say that either so Amazon needs to fix their description.

Another thing I wish is that it came with Toodles like the old clubhouse and that the Mousekadoer would light up like the old clubhouse. That would be the best of both worlds (no pun intended).Otherwise, it seems to be an improvement off of the old clubhouse.

First off, this toy comes with Mickey, Pluto, and Minnie. If you would like to purchase more of the figures at a very reasonable price ($5 each) go to the fisher price website and type in mickey mouse clubhouse in the search area.Don't buy them on here for $10-20 each when you can get them there cheaper.Another option is to get all of the figures and the clubhouse through toys-r-us website for $60.Anyhow, the only real problen is the house doesn't lock together so yes if your child is a hellion it will "pop" apart. Both of my kids, ages 2 and 5, LOVE this toy and are HUGE fans of the show. They both spend hours playing with this toy.So the bottom line is, if your kids got ears and say cheers buy this for them and you will not regret it.Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggidy dog!

My son just got this toy for his 2nd birthday. Both he and my olderson love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and were very excited about the toy. I find it to be very dissapointing. My biggest issue is that the pieces do not actually snap into place. They basically just rest in place and then the second anyone goes to move it, it falls apart. Not sure why they couldn't just make the pieces snap in. It also has a garage on the side that doesn't snap into place either. DEFINITELY not worth the 50 bucks in my opinion. Seems like it might be worth maybe $10-$15.

The pieces on either side just sort of balance in place.Just holding it in your hands it feels cheap.I drilled a few tiny holes and used color matching zip ties to hold the pieces onto the sides, but that shouldn't be necessary.Even with that done, and it staying together you'll get possibly 5 minutes of entertainment out of the thing. It was really a let down!Sell the kid on something else if they are stuck on it!At least try!

Orion StarBlast 4.5 Astro Telescope

Orion StarBlast 4.5 Astro Telescope
  • Compact 4.5-inch (113-mm) f/4 Newtonian reflector, comes ready to use
  • Only 25 inches tall, it makes a great "grab-and-go" telescope for impromptu observation sessions
  • With a tabletop altitude-azimuth mount, 6- and 17-mm Explorer II 1.25-inch eyepieces

I've had an Orion StarBlast for over a year now, and even though I have larger, more sophisticated telescopes, it is the one I use most. The setup is instantaneous though, like other reflectors, it takes some time to cool down on cold nights. It's easily portable, and works well as a grab `n go. The short focal length makes it excellent for low power, wide field views of deep sky objects and the moon. Through the StarBlast, I have observed (to name a few) the Ring Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy (along with its two neighboring galaxies), Galaxies M81 and M82, countless open clusters, the Lagoon and Trifid nebulas, The Eagle Nebula, the nebula in Orion, comets NEAT and LINEAR. Jupiter's belts and moons are apparent at higher power, as are Staurn's rings and the phases of Venus and Mercury. During the last opposition, I could see Martian polar ice caps. During the last lunar eclipse, I had no trouble taking digital photographs through this instrument.

This is the same fast optics formula as the Edmund AstroScan and Bushnell Voyager bowling ball. The StarBlast is far and away the best of the three, but as with the others, the high power views are soft. That feature is not a problem for those of us primarily interested in deep sky. Planetary views could be more detailed, and my own StarBlast won't split the double double in suburban skies. (Orion's somewhat longer 4.5" f 8 dobsonian is more suited to these subjects.) In addition, most globular clusters present as unresolved fuzzy balls, as they will in any instrument of this aperture.

For the price, though, you can't really beat the StarBlast. It works well as a family telescope, or as a casual scope for someone interested but not obsessed by astronomy. It is small, inexpensive, and intuitive enough to be handled by children. It also works nicely for crusty old guys like me who have bigger hardware, but just don't feel like moving it every night.

I agree with all the previous reviews. I've owned a number of telescopes. In all honesty, I never planned on getting this scope, but I changed my mind the first time I looked through one at star party. As some of the reviews have mentioned this little guy isn't really designed for high power views. However it does a decent enough job with it's 6mm eyepiece (75x) which lets you see Saturn's rings. Where this scope shines is wide field objects like the Pleiades, which are too big to be seen in a normal telescope. I believe a previous reviewer mentioned a jerky motion when turning the telescope. I was able to minimize this by taking the lazy susan type base apart and spraying Pledge furniture polish on the laminate surface to lessen friction.

The biggest "con" this scope has is that it needs to be set on top of a table in order to get the eyepiece up to a comfortable height. However this telescope still blows away anything I've seen in Costco, Wallmart, etc.

One thing you should be aware of is you really have to go somewhere pretty dark away from all lighting for this and any other telescope to achieve it's best views. Ideally somewhere out in the country as far away as possible from street lighting will let you enjoy much better views.

Hello!

This is a great telescope for a beginner.

First, let me share my credentials: I'm an advanced amateur astronomer, having been in the hobby for over 15 years.I have a 16" diameter telescope that I made myself, and I worked for a telescope company (not Orion!) for 4 years, designing telescopes for them.I think I know a little bit about telescopes...

I bought this scope (my 5th!) because it received a very positive review in Sky & Telescope magazine, and it fit my needs: something portable, easy, of good quality, and inexpensive.I bought it with the intention of using it only for quick sessions when someone asks me to look at something.I've ended up using it for much more than that!

In talking with my students, I see that choosing a telescope becomes very complicated if you try to learn about the features and specifications and try to make a choice that way.Frankly, don't bother.Just buy this one and most likely you'll be satisfied. It certainly beats other telescopes in its price range.

It has only 2 drawbacks.First, the eyepiece ends up very low, so you need to place the scope on a table, crate, etc.The option is to observe on your knees, which is fine for most, but might not be what you expect.

The second drawback is that views of the planets will be small. But they WILL be decently SHARP.I would recommend buying a 2x Barlow lens, to increase power. This is an inherent tradeoff in wide-field telescopes like this one, and a tradeoff I would take ANY day because finding objects is much easier if you've got a wide field of view.Just buy the Barlow and you're all set.

Some other reviewers mention a "jerky" motion in either axis. You can adjust that!Just loosen the bolt holding the axis together, and you'll reduce friction.Note, however, that if it's too loose, the scope won't stay put! This happens on every telescope, by the way, not just this one.

I highly recommend this scope.Good luck, and keep looking up!

Want Orion StarBlast 4.5 Astro Telescope Discount?

I absolutely love Orion Products, and I have been fortunate to have experienced a few of their telescopes through classes, star parties, etc. This little Orion StarBlast 4.5Astro Telescope [Altazimuth-based Reflector TabletopScope] is by far my all-time favorite small scope. I love everything about it: the color, the user-friendly design, the easy assembly, the sturdy base, the easy-to-do eyepiece / focuser unit, the potential for cool add-ons like Barlows, filters, and eyepieces, and the value for price. I am also impressed with the very informative, encouraginginstruction manual that comes with the product, which would be helpful for first-time scope users!

Remember, of course, the key word here is "tabletop" scope. The scope does not have long, adjustable legs like those found on equatorial mounted scopes. [I find EQ mounts and refractors very irritating to set up for short nightly use and quick views, which is why I prefer this StarBlast scope.] Many users will want to place the Starblast on an outdoor table or sturdy platform to raise the product up for more comfortable viewing. This is helpful, and I have done that. I have also just spread a large exercise mat / blanket on the ground and placed the telescope there with all its accessories. I had no trouble using the scope from this position--with both of us on the ground! This is actually my preferred way to gaze at the Orion Nebula. [This method is also safest when using the telescope around children--who may, in their excitement, knock the scope off a table or platform.]

Now, I wear eyeglasses, so I am always careful to choose equipment and eyepieces that can accommodate me. The instruction manual of this scope provides some helpful tips for eyeglass wearers. Especially helpful is the comment: "If your eyes are astigmatic, images will probably appear best with glasses on. This is because a telescope's focuser can accommodate for nearsightedness or farsightedness, but not for astigmatism" (Orion Manual, Page 5). Many first time telescope buyers aren't aware of eye relief effects or the unique optical properties of telescopes--like the focuser attributes or inverted images.

If you are interested in eye relief, let me recommend this product: Orion 17mm Stratus Wide-Field Eyepiece, 1.25"/2", which is also available from Amazon, I think. You can really see well with this EP, and it does not stress your eyes like cheap "peep hole" EP's. **For those who can afford pricey solutions, check out the Televue Dioptrx Astigmatism Correcting Lens options. Research well though before you buy!!! Your eyes, scope, and correctors all have to be compatible! Certainly do not invest in something like before you are 250% sure that you love star-gazing and telescope viewing, especially on a regular basis. Each person must weigh benefits against costs in these instances.**

My StarBlast came with two eye pieces: 17mm and 6mm Explorer II eyepieces. I can use the 6mm, but it is uncomfortable.I prefer the 17mm--which is better for my eyes, or my own added-on Stratus one as discussed above. Just for fun, I used eyepieces from another one of my scopes in the StarBlast and received some satisfying views as well: Sirius Plossl Eyepieces, 25mm and 10mm, 1,25" So, even though StarBlast comes with the tiny 6mm, there's no law that says you have to be confined to just the included eyepieces. The beauty of this product is that you can expand your collection and your seeing with some well-chosen, additional products. Many stargazers generally collect eyepieces very different from their product's standard inclusions. :)

A good way to explore eyepiece topics, astro equipment, night sky events, and space news is to subscribe to Astronomy magazine or to Sky & Telescope. My other advice for all first time telescope users is this: Understand that no home telescope will give you Hubble views; it's virtually impossible. So, don't expect your scope to show you the same images you would see in say magazines or National Geographic or on TV. REMEMBER: when you are using your own personal scope, you are viewing live sky--you, our planet, and the celestial targets are in a sense "sharing the same (vast) space" at that moment-each moving as its own nature / design dictates --unlike a static image in a publication. You are not just a spectator watches images; you are a participant! There's a certain thrill that goes with this! :) When I saw an interesting arrangement of Jupiter's four Galilean moons and the planet itself one night, I was totally thrilled, praising the scope. Now, the view was tiny (as this is a "small" scope); however, it was live. Jupiter look like a parent with for little children gathering around!

So, when you finally target Saturn or Jupiter in the StarBlast. savor the thrill of that moment, that astronomical connection. Remember that you are seeing them with more power and more knowledge than even Galileo himself! Thank him for his contributions though, for his efforts opened new worlds to humanity.

My sister was considering a telescope but was unsure whether she should put out a large amount of money for something she might not often use. I suggested the Orion StarBlast Astro Telescope as a way to test the waters first. The telescope is very inexpensive, yet reviews of the scope are good. What I didn't expect was how good this little telescope can be. Saturn's rings are clear, with a hint of Cassini on still nights. Jupiter's two primary bands are clear as well, and globular clusters are much brighter and more resolved than you would believe possible for a scope of this price (don't expect glittering jewelry boxes though.)

The scope is well built, solid, yet lightweight. Its incredibly easy to use, and the view in the primary's sweet spot is bright and clear. Outside the sweet spot the images get distorted quickly, but for this price that is a small consideration.

Like the rest of the scope, the red dot finder is easy to use. My sister's scope did not have the jerkyness other reviewers have reported, but I can't say whether we were lucky or they weren't.

I have an informal test of whether a first telescope is any good: did the new owners put it in closet after a few frustrating attempts, or have they developed a growing fondness for and knowledge of astronomy? In our case the little StarBlast excelled at this test.

One prior reviewer asked why, with a telescope this good at this price, everyone didn't have a telescope? Good question -for a first scope, its well worth the price. If you are planning to buy or give a first scope, I wouldn't look any further. You will still be happily using this scope long after you move up to larger, more powerful telescopes.

Frantic Fall

Frantic FallWe got something that looks exactly the same as this (same colors and everything... I'm sure it's from the same factory) but ours was $10.99 at Toys R Us. It's a skill game that can be fun for patient adults, but is definitely not for young kids. I think it would just frustrate them. Also, the wind-up mechanism is very loud (like an old-time egg timer's rapid ticking) and agonizingly slow to release the balls, you sit there waiting for quite a while between ball drops. My husband being an engineer, he was thinking of all kinds of ways we could improve it, like maybe removing the wind-up mechanism and just twisting the knob at the top to release the balls, but eventually we just decided to return it. We got it as a young kids' party activity (as part of a mini-carnival type lineup) and it just wouldn't work well for kids.

Fisher-Price Little Superstar Jammin' Band Musical Microphone

Fisher-Price Little Superstar Jammin' Band Musical MicrophoneFirst of all let me say Fisher Price did a good job on the commercial for this toy alone because my nine month old son stopped playing with his blocks on the floor to clap his hands and "talk" to the T.V when the commercial came on.It was hilarious. When we saw it in the store a few weeks later we let him play around with it a little bit and he was so enthusiastic that we broke down and bought it. I do think it was on the pricy side but he seems to really love it.He interacts with it all on his own.He likes the ball on the guitar the best.He kind of spins it and it plays a guitar "solo".The music is pleasant and not annoying like some baby toys, which seems to me to be standard with Fisher Price baby toys.He hasn't figured out how to use the microphone yet but I'm sure he will as he grows older. He can pull up on it; however I do wish the base were a tad bit studier.Overall, a pretty nice toy for an active baby and I'm pleased with it.

I was about to throw this toy out until I read a review that shared how to get it out of Demo mode. Now the songs play all the way through and my 18 mo old has much more interest in it.Under the front left leg, there is a button.Make sure the leg is pushed in as far as it will go flush and the songs should play in their entirty!

My daughter received this toy for her first birthday about 3 weeks ago and it really has been the favorite. The toys that hang around the edges of it seem pretty useless but the toy over all is a blast. It's so funny to hear her talk in to the microphone, every time she's surprised by how noisy she sounds. She'll stand in front of this toy for minutes at a time hitting all the buttons and messing around. The music isn't even annoying, unlike a lot of baby toys, and the volume is reasonable enough that we can keep it in the TV room and still hear what we're watching. I'll be giving this toy as a gift to many babies in the future.

My 22 month old daughter received this toy as a Christmas present, and likes it but it doesn't hold her attention for long.So far, we haven't been able to get it out of demo mode and it only plays 1/2 of each song before fading out.The reviewers at the Fisher Price website mentioned that tightening the screws that hold the legs on fixes this but we haven't had a chance to try that yet.It seems sturdy enough and the sound is good with decent volume.Like the other reviewers, I find the microphone dissappointing. My daughter likes it well enough, but I can see several areas for improvement.

Want Fisher-Price Little Superstar Jammin' Band Musical Microphone Discount?

We bought this item for our daughter's first Christmas. She turned one two days later. I chose it because she loves anything musical. She is now 14 months and this continues to be a toy that she'll play with anytime I put her in front of it. It's definitely a favorite.

Some people have complained about the low volume. If you are sitting on the floor right next to it, as a child would be, it is loud enough. I do have it set for the louder of the two settings. I appreciate that it's not blasting my daughter's ears. I also like that it has a selection of music, not just one that is played over and over again. Of course, by now I'm very familiar with all the songs but I don't find them annoying at all. I'm glad I came back to review this item because my one complaint was that it was too low now that our daughter is walking. Somehow I had missed that it was adjustable. It is now at the taller height and she is delighted.

One warning: do not buy it for the "microphone". It's really just a simple sound amplifier and you have to be really close for it to pick up. She just puts her mouth on it and makes one long noise and it can pick that up and amplify it. Don't expect it to pick up singing.

Finally, the frustration free packaging is terrific. I highly recommend it.

Blokus Classics Game

Blokus Classics GameI originally bought this game for my classroom to help my students develop thinking skills. When it first arrived, I took the game home to figure out how to play it before introducing it to my students--and I was hooked! My own children are ages 10 and 11 and they love the game (we are buying a game for home), but I teach students up to age 18 and they enjoy the game just as much.Educationally, it helps younger students develop a better understanding of spatial relations and planning ahead. For older students (and adults) it helps to develop various strategy skills.

Unlike most educational games, the rules are simple and once you've played it through one time (or watched it through one time) all your effort can go into plotting your moves. The game doesn't run out of possibilities, either; every game is different, even if you play with the same people over and over.

As an educator, parent, and game enthusiast, this was money well spent.

If you skip over 5-star praising reviews, you'll find from the 4-star ones that you really need all 4 people to enjoy this game. With 2 or 3 players, the end of the game is always like this: player 1 wins, players 2 and 3 end up with one piece each that they can lay down if you let them finish the last round. You can call it a tie or you can call it "1st player wins", either way this is not a lot of fun.

Don't get upset though. There is a way to make it fun for 2 and 3 players. The creators didn't think hard enough; but you can easily mod the board, and all you need is a thin permanent marker (like Sharpie).

The general idea is to reduce the number of squares on the board so that players would run out of board space before they run out of pieces on hand.

So you take a marker, and you draw a line one square away from each of the four edges so that the 20x20 board becomes an 18x18 board. This is your 3-player board. When in 3-player, players are not allowed to place their pieces in the 1-square frame you just drew.

For 2 players, make another frame, this time 1 square away from the already reduced 3-player board. So you end up with a 16x16 board that is perfect for 2-player. Believe it or not, you can still get a tie on this board, but very rarely, and both players need to be quite creative and need some luck to get to a tie.

Another 2-player variation is that each player plays for 2 of the 4 colors (for example, player 1 for green and red, and player 2 for yellow and blue). Players still take turns and lay down one piece at a time, but you choose which of the 2 colors to play with when it's your turn. This 2x2 game is quite hard. Every time I play this variation it makes me feel my brain is about to explode (because there are too many choices and you only have one turn at a time!). I recommend trying this variation when both players already have enough experience with the regular game.

A friend, who knows we love games in our family, bought us this. Well, within a day we all were hooked. my 5 year old and 12 year old can play with my husband and me and we all are challenged and have a blast! i bought a set to bring to our family vacation home, and my sister in law and i were up until midnight every nite for a week playing this game with whomever we could snag to play it with us!! even really little kids have fun just playing with the pieces, not actually playing the game. the only caveat I have is DON'T LOSE ANY PIECES!!!!! all of the pieces are critical to the game.. that is a real challenge in our household!!

Read Best Reviews of Blokus Classics Game Here

I only bought this game because it was recommended to me time and time again. It looked boring and simplistic, but I figured there must be something I wasn't seeing. And there was! It is a great game! All of my kids can play it and challenge each other and me. This game does not necessarily favor the oldest(and supposedly wisest?) player. My seven year-old can beat the pants of me.

It also gets the brain working in non-traditional ways. You have to look at the grid in unique ways. The pieces aren't lined up in rows and columns like most games. You connect pieces by the corners. So sometimes you can connect a piece in an area that looks like it is totally bocked by your opponent.

And of course there is the strategy... I still haven't decided which is the best piece to start off with.

The game also takes a nice length of time, not too long and not too short.

Ravensburger Stow & Go - Puzzle Accessories

Ravensburger Stow & Go - Puzzle AccessoriesThe idea of storing a puzzle in progress is very appealing, but this mat has so many creases in it, that it made it very difficult to keep the puzzle flat while we were working on it.

The rolling-up part was not too difficult, and it unrolled nicely with the puzzle still intact.

I would prefer if it came with 3 bands instead of 2 so that it was more secure when rolled up.

The color of the mat is supposed to be a bright color so it makes it easier to see the peices, however the mat that I got is black.

It's also made of felt, so if you have pets, it will collect some hair.

I am going to attempt to iron the mat before using it again to see if this will help smooth it out.

This came out of the box all folded up, so it had many large creases in it. Even after trying to press out the creases it will not lie flat, so my jigsaw is coming apart because the mat is so uneven. Not really happy with this product.

Buy Ravensburger Stow & Go - Puzzle Accessories Now

I was a bit skeptical of this product before I purchased it but after reading all the reviews on Amazon I thought it was a good bet. It works very nicely. Not surprisingly, you do have to do a bit of refitting everytime you unroll it because some piece edges separate but it's not a big deal. I've noticed that as you complete more of the puzzle this becomes less of a problem. My only comment would be the size. I typically get puzzles no less than 1500 and this product was a bit too small for the average 1500 piece puzzle (unless it has unusual dimensions). Otherwise it's very nice AND washable, a plus after my cat annointedit.

I was a little nervous buying this item after all the folks who said they had problems with it.I took a chance and am quite satisfied. The mat I got is yellow felt, and looks just like the picture. It wasn't too creased just where it had been neatly folded to fit in the box and those creases came right out with a bit of ironing. It was a good risk and yes, probably a few dollars more than if I made my own as others suggest, but man was this easy!:)

Want Ravensburger Stow & Go - Puzzle Accessories Discount?

The Ravensburger Stow and Go Puzzle Accessories does do exactly what it says on the box it just doesn't do it well.

The mat is folded inside the box, so when you receive it, it's bumpy and raised. We read the instructions and used it as directed, but it was so uneven it was frustrating to use. In hindsight it would have been a good idea to iron it, but there are no directions in doing so and I was concerned I would burn it based on the type of material it is made from.

There are a few strips of sticky substance on the back covered by a plastic film, and absolutely no related instructions or directions about what it is supposed to be for or how it is used. Now we have not used a puzzle mat before so we are ignorant in this aspect, but isn't that what the instructions are supposed to be for? We assumed it was to hold the puzzle pieces in place, but I was concerned that if we removed the plastic film, and did not complete the part of the puzzle that would sit on top of the sticky strips before we rolled it up, then surely the lint from the mat rolling onto itself would get all over the sticky strips and render them useless anyway?

Sure enough, when we rolled up the puzzle put it away, the puzzle broke inside the mat. When we unrolled it to work on the puzzle further, we had to spend a large amount of time fixing the puzzle and putting pieces back together.

Not what I expected, and probably not worth using next time.

We bought this for our 3 year-old to put on the patio table for water play and pack upfor the beach, but still fold-and-go for travel and convenient storage.Set-up is not to difficult, but the instructions are pretty poor.I had to kind-of trial and error the installation of the rubber gasket pieces that join the two halves and make it water-tight.The water doesn't leak out, but be prepared for plenty of spillage with play-both over the sides and the gaps in the middle of the toy--this is not something you can just put a towel underneath to absorb. It held up well, but I was disapointed to see that you have to dis-assemble them every time you want to fold and store this item...wondering just how long it will remain functional. When you fold the table, there are 2 large holes on the bottom of the case that the smaller pieces fall out of.I had thought I could fold-and-go with all components nested inside, but that is not the case...to travel well, you have to hold the case upside down, with the handle towards the floor or the contents will fall out. Also, putting all the parts inside the case for folding is a bit of an exercise in 3D puzzle-solving...it took me a few tries. The table came with decals to decorate your harbor/roads, but we elected to skip them altogether, so I can't comment on how well they hold up to the water/sand/etc.Also, no matter what I try, I can't get the water pump to work at all-not at all essential to play-time, but annoying to me.Be sure you play in a place where you can just dump out the water, as there is no drain plug, and if your pump is also defective, you can't pump out the bulk of the water into a pitcher or other container for discard--I learned this the hard way. Overall, Mommy's a bit disappointed with the lack of forethought in the engineering of this product.

Our daughter, however, really enjoys playing with this. The bridges and locks do tend to pop off with play, but she doesn't seem to care the least.I just pop it back on and all is well.I wish it came with a few people, but she doesn't seem to care. Cute concept that should have been better executed for the price!

We received this as a gift for our 18-month old son and were excited to try it out. Here are some of the pro's & con's:

Pros

We've played with it at least 10 times and it does not leak

It comes with lots of parts to manuver & play

Educational for a child at least 3+ who can use it correctly

Cons

The pieces pull off very easily

Can be difficult to manuever some of the pieces as intended

Although it does break down and has a carrying handle, the bottom of the "suitcase" when folded is still open and all the pieces fall out.So you have to carry it upsside down.

The two sealing pieces do a great job in leak protection, but they are difficult to get on and off.I've started to just keep it assembled which takes up more room.

I ordered the Aquaplay Aqualand for my three year old granddaughter after reading the reviews. The product is made of tough plastic. The problem that I ran into was in the assembly. The main parts must fit tightly to hold the water, but were impossible to snap in place. After 40 minutes of pushing and mashing, I was able to get the main body together enough to hold some water. We have been playing with the toy, but water seeps out and must be replaced. My granddaughter has enjoyed the toy, but I would not recommend this to anyone else.

The Easter Bunny got this for my three year old this year. The instructions are very poor and getting the U shaped pieces with the rubber gaskets on right takes a heck of a lot of work they seem like they don't fit right still, and if he shifts it, the water leaks out.None of the accessories really snap into place andstay on where they are supposed to, they just kind of sit in the grooves on the board, so my son constantly wants me to put them back on. the water pump doesn't work on mine, either. He does like playing with this toy, so I will give it 2 stars, but it is strictly outside only since it leaks and is kind of a pain for me to get set up right for him.

Stokke Tripp Trapp Baby Set

Stokke Tripp Trapp Baby Set, Pale PinkThis seat works just fine ignore the reviews from people who say it is too tight. My daughter is on the chubby side ("Michelin Baby" her pediatrician says) and she fits in and out just fine. The tight fits that other parents talk about are caused by improper assembly of the chair itself if the wooden platform that the child sits on is installed too far forward in the chair frame, it will definitely make it hard/impossible to fit a child into this seat. But if you follow the instructions and place the seat as per the instructions, the only child that wouldn't fit would be a 40-pound, 6-month-old behemoth.Get this and enjoy!

Is really sweet color, my girl likes to sit. Worth the price, easy to assemble too. Thanks to some parents' guide about the 2 inches gap. Tks!

I was worried that this night be too pink as my chair is pine. The pink is very light and tasteful.

This is very easy to install and is structurally very secure, also very eady to clean. My daughter is 7 months and is sitting happily, so far there had been no need for the additional harness or padding.

The Baby Set matches our Tripp Trapp in the same color perfectly. It was very easy to install on the Tripp Trapp, and it's been very easy to use. Ease of use is wonderful. It seems very comfortable for our baby who has been using it for about 3 months now. My only complaint is that the harness feels a little clumsy. Specifically the front strap between the legs. It constantly gets caught underneath our baby's bottom or out the leg hole when we place the baby in the seat. It's an awkward operation to get it where it should be, however it's not enough to deter me from using the harness or the Baby Set.

Large Stanley London Brass 3-Leg Magnifier

Large Stanley London Brass 3-Leg Magnifier
  • Made from solid brass and has a special clear coating that never requires polishing and will not tarnish.
  • Features a large 40 mm (1 19/32 inch) diameter viewable area.
  • The magnifier uses precision two-element ground glass optics for clear 3-power magnification with a flat field that is sharp even at the edges.
  • The power of the magnifier is adjustable by rotating the threads.
  • The magnifier measures 2 1/4 in. (5.7 cm) in diameter and weighs 6.5 ounces (184 grams). The height of the magnifier can be adjusted between 2 inches (5.1 cm) and 2 1/2 in. (6.4 cm).

My daughter gave me the "Solid Brass Map Glass with Wooden Storage Box" by InsideOut", costing $14 from Amazon, as a Christmas present. The box is grand, & well-worth the $14 alone, but the magnifying glass was of poor optics and workmanship.

Ergo, I began searching for a replacement, found this Stanley London, which fit just perfectly into the box, and met all of my expectations. As advertised, the optics are grand from edge to edge, it's made of substantial solid brass, and the inner sleeve spins practically 360 degrees without any lube! And my daughter will never know that I switched!

It is also great to become acquainted with this fine company. If the quality of this one piece is indicative, Stanley-London's other period-instruments should be similarly superb!Oh, and I can't find "China" written anyplace thereon!

POOF-Slinky 0C602 Ideal BAS-KET Street Hoops Basket Skill Game

POOF-Slinky 0C602 Ideal BAS-KET Street Hoops Basket Skill GameIf you are looking for a re-creation of the basketball game of your past, forget it. When this game was originally sold, it had metal levers that could be adjusted to make the ball shoot more accurately. This model has hard plastic levers which have no give in them and makes it really hard to be accurate with your shot. In fact, it is almost impossible to make a shot from the free throw line because the ball consistently hits the lower part of the front of the rim. The plastic levers also will fall out if you move the playing floor of the game for any reason. I was a big fan of the old version when I was a kid and played it for hours at a time but bought this one for my grandson and we both got so annoyed because you couldn't score any points that he quit wanting to play it. I finally had to put something underneath the backboards to be able to hit a shot once in a while. Don't waste your money on this!! If you can find an older version with the metal levers you would be better off.

I played this game as a kid and was so excited to see it re-introduced!This game can be VERY addicting. It does require some skill to shoot the ball just right and there are tons of laughs to go around when the ball doesn't roll where you want it to.Great game to play with the kids or other adults great way to play a lively interactive game that provides opportunity for real interaction with your opponent.

I bought this game because the original one which I have owned for 40 years is finally showing some wear. As a school psychologist, I use this toy frequently when working with children. I was so excited when the product arrived at my home, that I opened it immediately and put it together. My 15 year old son and I began to play. He thought is was a "cool" game. Out of approximately 100 shots, only 3 made it into the basket. Many of the shots just went straight up and down. I was extremely disappointed in the cheap plastic levers and baskets! This game is unplayable. My son agreed. Also, in order to store the game away, you would have to take it apart. In the original game, the metal baskets fold, and the levers easily fit inside the box. After 20 minutes of play, I took the game apart, put all the pieces back in the bag, and closed the box. I then placed it in the carton in which it arrived. I went on line to Amazon and requested a return authorization. I placed the return authorization in the carton, taped the box closed, and placed the UPS return label on the carton. I immediately drove to the UPS store to return this terrible game. If you remember the original and enjoyed playing it for hours either by yourself or with friends, do not purchase this product! If you have never played this before, don't even consider buying it!

I too had this game back in the 60s and thought that it would be fun to play it again.Unfortunately, this is a cheaply made reproduction. It was hard to assemble, it is hard to score (impossible from the free throw line), and it is frustrating to play.We played it once or twice and have not played it again.

I purchased this game thinking that I would get the one that I had back 30 years ago. That basketball set was so fun all my friends used to skip high school and set up leagues to play for hours at a time. What a hoot!Who needed drugs, sex and rock and roll when you had this?

I was sorely disappointed when I got the newer model with the plastic levers rather than the old steel ones. Can't hit a shot for nothing and I used to be the all-time leading scorer. It ruined what was going to be a great Christmas morning with my children. Now it has sat all year unused. What a waste.Sooooo Disapointed!

Don't go by the ratings I gave this. For some reason Amazon thinks this is a toy and its not. It's not really a reading lamp either. The one thing I couldn't find any info on before I bought it was what wattage did it take. It's recommended not to use anything higher than 60 watts. Now that I've finished telling you what it isn't, I'll tell you what it is.

It's a great collectible and decorative piece. Lots of people don't link the lampshade, but I do even if Matt Smith is not a favorite of mine. It complements the TARDIS base and adds to the overall WOW look of it.Before I knew that wattage limitation I was going to order another one and put both in my living room. After I received this one I decided to use it as a light in the kitchen for when there isn't a lot going on and saving on energy.

I still might buy another one because this is just an awesome piece. Well worth the $50.

So, if you like Dr Who and collect Dr Who collectibles, add this to your collection. If you want to start collecting Dr Who, this would be a nice starter piece.

I would recommend this and I do recommend it to all Whovians out there....wherever and WHENever you are.

I just went back and gave everything 5 stars even if it isn't a toy.

I think the lamp shade is a bit cheesy for an adult, but you can replace it if it really bothers you.Overall, I love it; it looks fantastic and should last a long time. If you add batteries, it even makes the TARDIS noise when you open the door... if you leave the brakes on. ;) "It's a brilliant noise.I love that noise!"

KidKraft Train Table

KidKraft Train Table - NaturalWhat little boy or girl doesn't love trains? I have a 5 year old girl and a 1 year old boy and every time we go to one of those stores with a train set like this one out for the kids to try I always have a hard time dragging my kids away. Well, now my kids can play with a train set as long as they want!

This set comes with the perfect amount of trains, cars, and track for several kids to play at once and keep one kid entertained for hours.

My kids are also fond of Thomas the Train whose vehicles are fully compatible.

The table is very sturdy while the 120 piece train set is also well made and you cannot beat the price which I would have been willing to spend just for the table alone.

I would highly recommend this set to anyone whose kids like trains or have had to be pried away from an in store display.

I'm really impressed with everything about this set.....it really does entertain.I have a daycare with the youngest being 2 and the oldest 8.Everyone plays with this. It's built nicely and at the perfect height.(Little guys can stand and walk around while the older kids can kneel and play.)

Sometimes the picture is misleading and the final product turns out much smaller than you thought it would.......well, not the case with this! There is room enough for several children to play at once and plenty of accessories, people, and vehicles to go around.

It was reasonably easy to put together, too, but I'd suggest you do it alone or with a second adult, rather than with 3 toddlers helping you.The table assembly is quick and easy, using only the hex driver included. The train track assembly takes the most time.Be sure to save your directions in case they take it apart.

I'd recommend this for anyone with children.

We bought this table with matching drawers for my son's 3rd birthday. He LOVES IT! He wants to play with his trains on the table morning, noon and night!!! The best thing about this table is that it can grow with your child. Unlike many train tables covered with Thomas or like graphics, this is done in simple wood tones. We choose the honey finish and it is like a nice piece of furniture. The lip around the edge is just high enough to prevent the train and track from slipping off, yet shallow enough to be a comfortable board game table or a place to do homework. The top is large with plenty of play room and has a reversible side...the train scene on one and grass green on the other. We decided that we'll paint the green side with a chalkboard paint when our son had grown past his wooden train set. A word of advice...when you purchase this table you WANT the two trundle drawers as they are large and hold tons! Read all the item descriptions carefully as the majority of pictures show the table with the drawers yet the drawers are NOT INCLUDED. A good rule of thumb is to look at the price... any price under $200 and it's a safe bet the drawers are NOT included!!! This table is sturdy, made well and VERY easy to put together with a friend (to hold pieces). No screwdrivers needed! So, get this table! What are you waiting for? Enjoy your child!

Mizerak Deluxe Billiard Ball Set

Mizerak P0512 Deluxe Billiard Ball Seti was a bit hesitant on buying a set of balls for this price figured they would chip and not hold up.well i have to say i am impressed.i have played many games with them already and they look just as good as when i took them out of the box new.i also hit very hard on the break so if they can take that they are good pool balls.

Nothing special, they a billard balls, they roll and fall into the pockets when you aim accurately.Bought them for everyday use, the balls I got with the table are original Brunswick balls, about 50 years old.

I have several coin operated pool tables. One has a mechanism that "weighs" the balls to determine which is the cue ball.I have a special cue ball for the table, and just wanted this set for the object balls. These balls weigh as much as the special cue, so they were rejected into the cue ball return. This is not a defect or a problem, but I just wanted anyone who might be purchasing them to be aware.

Gund Grover Hand PuppetI bought Elmo and now Grover for the same reason. My children grew up watching Sesame Street.

I ordered this to play with my 7 month old baby girl she loves it. It's very well made but... isn't very easy to use. You can't have long nails and it's stiff when opening and closing. My hubby said the same thing, I was hoping it would be more like a sock puppet. You have to work your hand mussels to play with it. My baby girl laughs and lights up when she sees Grover though.

Cars Room In A Box With Foldable Table And Chair Set

Cars Room In A Box With Foldable Table And Chair SetWe purchased this for our 2 yr old Grandson, who had gotten to the point where you just couldnt keep him in his crib any longer. It WAS challenging getting it together, and I dont think I could have accomplished it myself. Even with my husband doing it, it took both of us to get the support piece underneath the bed into place. Several of the holes didn't line up so that took awhile too.

The little table, while really cute, collapsed the first time he sat at it with a few Legos, so we had to purchase a clamp to hold it together underneath. So now it cant be folded up, but it DOES stay upright now! We havent had any problems with the chairs, and they seem to be better constructed than the support on the table.

The toy box...cute too, but having the lid being made out of fabric was a mistake for a toy box that would be in a young childs room. The very first time we took him in the room he went right for the toy box to climb on top of it, and no way would that lid support weight like that. So we just leave the lid off now...which works, but I just think they should have taken that into consideration.

All told...for the price that we paid for the set...We're happy with our purchase and so is the Grandson! He loves his "big boy" bed and sitting at his own table to play or eat.

My 2 year old loves his new bed. It was really affordable and looks great. I really recommend this. No issues at all. Shipped faster then i expected.
